The D Family {Higgins Beach} | Scarborough Maine Family Photographer

It’s always amazing when I have the opportunity to have my own family in front of my cameras, and this was the case a few weeks ago when my husband’s cousins came up to Maine to spend the weekend with us. Not only do photo sessions give us a good excuse to get together, but I get to have people in front of my cameras that I connect with on a totally different level, making it just a little extra special. Jill, Ryan, Dani, and Adri live in Massachusetts and every time we get together with them, we leave wanting more. Their girls are about the same age as my daughter Molly, making for easy and fun cousin hangouts whenever we can make them happen. One of the things I love most about these guys is their willingness to do new and fun things and to just roll with whatever is put out there. Knowing this, I suggested Higgins Beach for their session – not usually a place I ever hesitate to shoot at, with the exception of at high tide. There is very little beach at Higgins when the tide is high, meaning toes and clothes will get wet early, but high tide at Higgins is just as dreamy (giggling because the girls picked on me for this word choice all weekend!), at high tide, if not moreso than at at low. So when these guys said “let’s go for it!” I was totally pumped, and am so so happy we chose this spot for their photos. The rocks and water, and seriously gorgeous sunset was perfect with their outfits (Jill’s skirt – DREAMY! ????), and we ended the session with the girls in their bathing suits for a sunset swim, and then dinner on the beach with my family who joined at the end. It was an absolutely perfect Higgins evening with these incredibly special humans, and I only hope they love these photos as much as I do. Here are my many, many favorites.
