Love what you see?
Fair warning, this afternoon’s post is sappy and personal, but I simply can’t make it be any other way. Today I am so excited to share maternity photos for my brother Peter and my stunning sister-in-law Erica, who live in southern California but asked me to take their photos during their time here in Maine over Labor Day Weekend. If you’ve ever met Peter, even for just a second, you know he is a character. So it wasn’t surprising to find out that he was messing with us all for the past year when he made it very clear that he never wanted children, when in reality, during this time, he and Erica were planning their life together with kids, and were thrilled to give us the surprise of a lifetime when they shared with extreme excitement that they were expecting. My tears of joy were quickly followed by a huge sigh of relief, because if there was ever anything I never questioned, it’s how amazing these two will be as parents. My brother has a golden heart that he wears on his sleeve, especially when it comes to his “Lady” and now of course their sweet little girl, Aurora, who is scheduled to make her debut in November. Erica compliments him beautifully, and her journey into motherhood fits her so well – she is simply stunning and so excited for the next phase of their lives. I was so thrilled when they asked me to capture this special time for them, and together we took a little time out of their trip to take these photos at the rec center in Hampden. As teenagers, the rec was where kids went to misbehave, so I was a little hesitant to do the session there, but after a quick walk-through as a 30-something, I realized that my 18-year old self never noticed the sheer beauty of this spot in the middle of our hometown. The river, rocks, and woods were the perfect Maine setting for their session, and I share these with tears in my eyes, so excited to meet my niece in a few months. Both Pete and Erica are totally glowing with excitement, as is the whole family, excited to welcome our newest family member in a few short months. Here are my many favorites of this special session.
