{A Big Announcement!}

So far, 2014 has been an incredible year. I have had beautiful weddings, fun portrait sessions, and just overall fabulous clients. It’s been busy busy busy and I am so grateful for all of the support I am given every day by my clients, my family, and my friends.

In my fifth year as a photographer, I am learning that like in any career, this career also has a path. I have also learned that it takes some years of really crazy busy work, lots of learning, and lots of experimenting to figure out exactly what makes you happy in this industry. And with a young family at home, I’ve also learned that the need to balance work and life is not only important but essential to the success of both my business and my family.

So, with a bit of nervousness, and a lot of excitement, I am happy to announce that starting in 2016, I will exclusively be a portrait and lifestyle photographer. I will be taking a very limited number (5 max!) of weddings in 2015.

This is a decision I have been slowly coming to over the past year or so. And I feel it is very important to be very clear that I love my weddings, I love my wedding clients, and being a wedding photographer for four years fulfilled a lifelong dream of mine that I still cannot believe actually happened. I am so very blessed. But as my business has grown, I have noticed a drive towards portrait work and with almost double the portrait sessions this year, I’ve realized where my heart in photography truly lies. There is something really special about capturing love through different phases of life and the work I have done with engagement, maternity, newborn, and family sessions allow me to share moments from different times in my clients lives that they will remember but that will also be passed on through the generations.

So, what does this mean?

For my upcoming wedding clients – It doesn’t mean anything different for you! Except for the fact that since I love weddings and you are some of the last ones I’ll be photographing, I’ll be putting in even more effort, and be even more excited to be there for you as a celebration of a part of my career that has meant so much to me over the past several years. You will still get the same level of attention, professionalism, and excitement as my previous wedding clients, if not more!

For my portrait clients – There are so many exciting things coming your way! Your portrait session will no longer be “just a portrait session.” I will be working with you beforehand to have a strong idea of exactly what you are looking for from your session. We’ll talk about how to get your photos off of your computer and onto your walls or into an album so you can show them off and be proud of the family and life you are building. Sessions will be more personalized, the service you receive will be more complete, and having your photos taken will become an experience, not just a 45 minute session on your summer vacation or random evening. For current clients, the experience you’ve had in the past will only improve and for new clients, your first experience will hopefully wow you so much that you can’t help but come back every year.

There’s a lot of excitement on this end, and I hope you are as excited as I am. Keep an eye out over the next few months as I roll out a new website and begin the transition, most likely with some surprises and fun giveaways in there too. Thank you so much to all of you who have been my support system over these past few years – I am so excited about this next phase in my career and business and can’t wait to create even more amazing memories for you.

Congratulations Kristina! I’m so excited for you. You are such an amazing photographer and a beautiful person – so glad that you are following your dreams & passions, being true to yourself and seeking balance in your life (over potentially money, as I imagine weddings may be more financially rewarding). Go you! Matt and I feel super lucky to have been one of your wedding couples and look forward to portraits when we visit the States in years to come!! xx

Kristina,
I’ve been a follower and fan for a couple years now. I love how you represent your clients and our wonderful state – the artistry in your work is beautiful and inspiring.

I just wanted to reach out and say congratulations on your decision. I look forward to more amazing portraiture, and I was wondering if you would you ever consider mentoring?
